On one of my previous visits to Hikkaduwa a guest house had been recommended to me based on its cheap cost (4 pounds) and relaxed ambience; although I didn't know its exact location by some fluke I spotted the sign for the guest house just as we stopped to look for accommodation. I owe a thank you to my friend Pradeep who kindly loaned his minivan and driver to transport us from Colombo to Hikkaduwa.
There was a security guard (either the owner or his right hand man pictured here) who prevented all hawkers from disturbing guests whilst we lounged in the communal garden.
Sun loungers and hammocks were available and provided an ideal retreat to hide from the sun during the hottest part of the day. These are my friends Baz and Viv making the most of the guest house facilities.
