What, more elephants?

Planet of the Elephants. Chief Elephant trainer. It tales years of practice and a pointy stick to tame these creatures.Baz saves Viv from being squashed using his incredible strength to keep these two giants of the wild apart. Two baby elephants playing, I said playing, they're babies after all.
Step on it, we're out of here.

Last of the Big Wave Surfers

We sacrificed looking cool for fun and messed around in the little waves on boogie boards. I managed to paddle into about 2 waves but it was a lot easier to just jump off my feet into the waves as they broke.Baz gives me the "Why are you pointing that camera at me?" look while Viv watches the sun go down. Oh yeah, belated Happy New Year to one and all.
The sun goes down on a week of lazing in hammocks, swimming in the sea and gorging ourselves on seafood and beer.

Richard's Son Guest House

On one of my previous visits to Hikkaduwa a guest house had been recommended to me based on its cheap cost (4 pounds) and relaxed ambience; although I didn't know its exact location by some fluke I spotted the sign for the guest house just as we stopped to look for accommodation. I owe a thank you to my friend Pradeep who kindly loaned his minivan and driver to transport us from Colombo to Hikkaduwa. There was a security guard (either the owner or his right hand man pictured here) who prevented all hawkers from disturbing guests whilst we lounged in the communal garden.
Sun loungers and hammocks were available and provided an ideal retreat to hide from the sun during the hottest part of the day. These are my friends Baz and Viv making the most of the guest house facilities.

Seema Malaka Temple + Friends

Two friends came to visit me in Sri Lanka. They arrived after Christmas and on the first day I gave them a quick tour of Colombo. Here I am with some other friends I'd just met who are quite religious and good at yoga. My religous friends have a sweet pad on Beira Lake but unfortunately they had no space for my friends from England to stay.
We decided to blow town after a couple of nights and head down the coast to hit the beach.
