Private Pool

It was seriously hot today and I needed a swim. The sea is still rough so I won't be heading to the beaches down south for a few months yet. There is a beach on the south side of Colombo but the water isn't very clean. I've searched Colombo for swimming pools before, to get some swimming practice to help out my surfing. I knew the hotel round the corner from my house had a pool but it's pretty small and surrounded by a high wall, so it's in the shade most of the day. As it was only midday I figured at least it should be sunny and gave it a try. Fortuitously the pool was empty and I spent a pleasant hour and a half swimming and catching rays. In case you thought a private hotel pool on your doorstep was too good to be true the hotel is undergoing some construction work and although it looks fine inside it still needs a bit of work outside (major understatement).

I wasn't sure if gecko was stuck or not. I left him wallowing in the dregs of a vodka and sprite for 2 days until I decided to tip the glass on its side to give him an easy exit. For a creature that climbs walls I can't figure how a glass can become a prison. He's gone now so I'm guessing he would have left earlier given the option.
